Here is how you perform a dumbbell side bend:
Stand with the dumbbell at your side. Now allow the dumbbell to roll down the side of your leg so your body is stretching with it. Do not allow your hips to move. Here is a video showing you how:
An over head side bend is similar to this as well except as the name suggests you will be holding the dumbbell over your head instead:
