Hi!
I am Linda T from Milwaukee.
Last year I lost over 4 stone and I think the whole thing was attributed to a change in the way I thought about things and therefore my training/diet. The biggest mindshift change I did was to do with my snacking. I completely eliminated it.
Normally my biggest weakness was snacks. I had everything else going fine; I was having low cal healthy meals and having good exercise sessions 3-4 times a week. The problem was between these sessions and well planned meals I was snacking on junk food and just ruining the rest of my effort.
So this is what I needed to stop. So I did nothing for a week and just jotted down every time I snacked and compiled a list of the times and events that made me snack. Usually for me I was snacking most between lunch and dinner and around 9-10 at night.
Now that I knew when I was snacking I knew when I was more likely to fold on my diet so I started doing short intense workouts just before my peak snack times. I did this in addition to other workouts I was doing during the week. The main reason I think this worked was because after the workout my brain refused to let my body eat because it would make the snack time a complete waste of time.
If I even thought about having a snack I would feel annoyed with myself for having wasted the time and effort doing that workout.
The extra workouts I did were just 5-10 minute intense intervals, where I would walk for 30 secs jog for 30 secs and sprint for 30 secs, or the equivalent on an exercise bike or elliptical.
Hope this helps some of you cut down on your snacking and finally burn all that fat off!
