Upper Chest Workouts
Chest workouts have long been a favorite among bodybuilders and other forms of weight lifters. However upper chest workouts are just as important for sculpting the muscles and providing that hard pec, full broad chest look.
People who don’t want to bulk up but who simply want to get more toned and have a better defined chest often overlook the upper chest and focus too much on the lower chest, this is the wrong way to be going about it, doing this will not give you that full broad defined chest, it will just make the lower chest appear droopy. So always ensure you use upper chest workouts when you are training.
Here is some great upper chest workouts for you to include in your program, these exercises are best performed in a gym, for other exercises you should check out Chest Workouts at Home:
1. Incline Barbell Bench Press
This is a great exercise for getting perfect definition in the chest area.
The form for this exercise is to bring the bar down straight as opposed to the slightly curvy motion you would undertake on a flat barbell bench press, if you do this curvy motion on an incline bench you are likely to hurt your shoulders in the process.
If you are trying to gain huge muscles with these upper chest workouts then you should really go all out on the weight, make sure you have a spotter with you so you don’t cause an accident.
If, however, you are just looking for some extra definition without bulking up too much then you should put a weight up where you can do 10-12 reps.
2. Incline Dumbbell Press
Similar to before but now we are using dumbbells. For this exercise your form should be the same as before but you should be performing extra reps per set.
3: Cable Crossovers
Another great upper chest workout, head on over to the cable station and really get the chest pumping.
When doing cable crossovers you are going to want your arms to cross slightly and then only go halfway back to the starting position, this will ensure maximum tension on your upper chest.
Summary
These are just a few exercises to get you thinking about training your upper chest. Just as long as you remember that flat bench presses and other lower chest exercises will not get you that full broad chest look, for that you need to be doing upper chest workouts as well!
